I see BA have announced (http://www.thebasource.com/british-airways-announce-seasonal-london-gatwick-cape-town-service/) a new seasonal Gatwick/Cape Town route starting in November.

It is stated that a 777-220ER will be operating the route. Does anyone know if a particular aircraft will be assigned to this route? Also, will the economy cabin be a 3-3-3 configuration as in other 3 class layouts (http://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/information/modalContent/about-ba/fleet-facts/boeing-777-200/boeing-777-200-3-class-seatmap.html)?

Thanks!

A smart move. The route can certainly take it. Many years ago the ZA carrier Nationwide tried this but the company failed before they could fully establish the route.

I understand that the route will be seasonal starting late November 2016

BA2065 146 LGW N CPT 1800 0750+1 777 to end of March
BA2064 257 CPT LGW N 1910 0505+1 777

Also Thomas Cook Airlines will be operating the route southbound days 146 with a 332. Monday service ops northbound as a day flight.
