They should have been aware of the possible risks; enough people in Europe have been nailed for the same thing. In some countries, the concept of 'aircraft enthusiasts' is totally alien and in a country which has had recent terrorist activity the danger should have been apparent.

A colleague of mine at Heathrow in the early 70s was imprisoned in a European country for spotting.
