Unknown Airplane-Display, maybe CDI,HSI,VOR related

Hello

I'm a collector of vintage displays and optoelectronics and i have absolutely no knowledge about aviation (I'm sorry)

I picked up a round neon (panaplex) display. Sadly i have no information about this part, so i posted it to an electronics forum. It was declared as aircraft part and might be part of a Course Deviation Indicator, Horizontal Situation Indicator or related to VOR Radio .

Here is some info about the part:
- Manufactured in 1976 by Burroughs USA (they made alot of display tech)
- It has 4 Bargraphs on it, alligned as cross hair these COULD be drived as filled-bars or as independant small lines
- It has two 3-digit 7-Segment displays on it. Those can display 0-7 and some basic letters. There is also an up and down arrow by these digits.
- It has two words that can be enlighted "TO" and "FR"

I would be very interesting to find out more of this part. Does anybody recognize this?
I would love to know in what device this display was used, maybe a manufacturer or a part number would be nice.

Looks like sort of fancy VOR/ ILS instrument.

I've never seen one like it, but....

It's got a 'to or from' indicator. So that's pure VOR. Vhf Omnidirectional Radiorange.

The other two spaces must be for OBS and DME.

The course deviation laterally must be represented by the horizontal part of the big cross and glide slope deviation, when being used as an ILS receiver, on the vertical part of the cross.

Maybe it was an attempt to replace the traditional instrument with something cheaper.....

I'd agree with AtomKraft. Perhaps a standby instrument, or something that could be connected to a hand-held unit?

I thought it was the display for a Narco Escort II, but possibly not as not enough digits to display the frequencies
