Checking with Traffords today I have been offered a Travel Insurance policy extended to cover flying aircraft - so medical expenses, repatriation etc.

This wouldnt cover damage to the aircraft but just ME - which I wouldnt plan on damaging either me or said aircraft but taking as a safeguard.

Coming in at £115.00 single trip 21 days.

Is this type of policy what is termed "renters insurance" in the US?

Will try AVEMCO also.

No. Renters insurance in the aviation realm (as opposed to apartment/flat renters) covers damage to the aircraft, lose of use for the owner and may cover medical bills if the renter's regular health insurance doesn't cover injuries due to participating in general aviation.
