Hi All,

Just curious, does anybody know why there has been a Emirates A380 sitting in Qantas maintenance facility in Melbourne for close to a week now?

Cheers

Have no idea but it appears Ek 406 & Ek 407 operated as a 777 from Melbourne to Auckland return on Feb 12, then didn't go onto Dubai - according to Flightaware

Blew a tire on landing. Sent chunks up into the wing to body fairing. Fairly big panel beating job required and waiting for parts from Toulouse to get it done.

An Emirates Airbus A380-800, registration A6-EEF performing flight EK-406 (dep Feb 11th) from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Melbourne,VI (Australia), landed on Melbourne's runway 16, slowed safely and taxied to the terminal with the crew maintaining routine communication.

A passenger waiting for his flight from Melbourne reported blown tyres were clearly visible from the waiting lounge when the aircraft approached the gate. The aircraft was unable to perform the next sector to Auckland.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground 24 hours after landing due to damage to the underside of the wings received when a number of tyres burst on landing.

A replacement Boeing 777-300 registration A6-EGF reached Auckland with a delay of 6.5 hours.
