Qantas' cardboard meal boxes catch alight and smoulder in aircraft ovens (http://www.theage.com.au/nsw/qantas-cardboard-meal-boxes-catch-alight-and-smoulder-in-aircraft-ovens-20160217-gmwayp.html) cabin crew used a fire extinguisher, according to this newspaper report.

"Caramelised Cardboard". Probably the tastiest and most nutritious part of the meal.

"Excuse me Stewardess, what is this dry white powder all over my sandwiches?"

"Ohhh, that is just part of the cooking process"

The cabin crew used a fire extinguisher on the food which they had heated at the correct temperature of 275 degrees Celsius.

Sounds a little warm, no? We never cook up a Tesco ready-meal any higher than around 220 (though I admit we rarely try to cook 30 meals at a time).

I'm reminded of the Ray Bradbury book, Fahrenheit 451 - so called because that is the temperature at which paper burns.

451F = 233C

Just a thought. ;)

Ahem!
275deg C ? That can't be right, surely?
No wonder the cardboard is getting a little bit crisp.

This sounds way too hot and the article says "heating cardboard boxes full of food such as meat pastries and sandwiches."

surely you don't warm up sandwiches anyway
