Been waiting for almost 8 years into aviation and passing through tough times i m feeling happy to secure job simutaneously in two airlines air india and indigo.
Air india tr starting from 15th feb at cte and indigo tr from 21st feb cae dubai.both are well established TR centers.i have already done pros and cons of both airlines and its getting very hard for me to choose the best option between these two,but i still believe indigo seems d good option as air india making us to sign 10 years surity bond of 28 lakhs+22 lakhs bank guarantee for initial 5 yrs for tr cost.but before proceeding forward i really want the second opinion so i am looking forward for help from u fellows to clear up sm confusion.Thank you.

Without a second thought walk away from Air India and choose Indigo. Your pay will always be several months late and you will not have the opportunity to fly with ex-pats at Air India.
Indigo is a much friendly forward thinking airline. Its a clear choice to fly for Indigo.

Air india:pros(1)dont have to pay upfront initial tr money which is 22L.instead they will cut from salary.
(2)waiting time till release as FO is less then indigo.

Cons:1-no salary increment and no fixed hours apart from basic salary.
2-10 years surity bond and bg of 22L for TR for tenture of 5 yrs.
3-career progression is slower compared to indigo in terms of FO to command.

Indigo:Pros:(1)stable company with good fleet expansion a320neo's
(2)good salary cheque with good career progression
(3)no bond*

Cons:waiting time can be of 4-5 months after tr complition.but i feel its worth to wait to get the best

Hi there @avio_atul02 : Many congratulations, its been tough to land a single job in the Indian aviation in recent years and you got two of them, quite a feat :D:D

Well, regarding your post, I believe the duration for your type rating at CTE will be quite long itself. Don't know how long do they take to train their own recruits but for external candidates it takes somewhere 6-9 months, as per their brochure.

So, I believe that should even out, any wait, if at all after TR for IndiGo.

Air India, someday you could end up flying the Dreamliner, not before 8-10 years though, for IndiGo, who knows A321neo could be quite sooner than that period.

Well, can't say much about the bond for Indigo, apart from paying upfront for the Type Rating at Air India, IndiGo looks the optimum choice.

So go out there and Fly high! happy landings :ok:

first off, congrats on getting offer from both the airlines.

IMHO, any airline that has to up their bond to 10 years to keep people from leaving says a lot about the working conditions there.

Gone are the days when "sarkari" was enough to attract and retain the pilots. Today , quality of life, company culture, time to command, progression ,communication and openness of management to employees are all integral to an employee sticking around.

Air India is learning it the hard way unfortunately. They will get the required numbers now but to retain experience is the difficult part and no amount of slavery tactics will stem the flow .Attitude change takes time unfortunately.

All the best with your decision, fly safe.

Many congratulations, between Air India and IndiGo, without any doubt in my mind I would recommend you to join IndiGo.

As I am in IndiGo, I'm well versed with the working culture and many other things which really don't matter at this time because right now what matters to you is a job, as you have mentioned after a long wait for 8 years, you got through.

But for long run IndiGo is where you will have all the opportunities for your career progression and more importantly peace of mind which really matters in our job.

As you have mentioned the TR amount you will have to pay upfront in IndiGo is a big amount but it will be wise decision and you wont regret.

Hope to see you soon!

The cons you listed are not unique to AI. There is no airline in the world with perfect working environment. It is no longer an elite industry. Some airlines are spending way too much money on PR using few employees/models to attract experienced talent, but they are no different. You will know once you join.

If 30% of AI pilots are set to retire over next year(news report), wouldn't it speed up the time to command???

IMHO folks were perfectly a OK to use tax payer funds to get training and move on quickly, but now with stringent contracts AI is not viable anymore.

Join IndiGo, it's a better option. Even I've been selected in IndiGo.
