Would a Turboprop Captain (ex-pat) have a reasonable chance of gaining employment with Eva Air? Or, is the company in the position to pick and choose amongst jet-endorsed candidates with time on type for the F/O positions?

Ciao

I'm also interested in Eva Air (curr. 747-400 (ICAO) rated). If anybody has info regarding conditions and recruitment plans, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Guys,

If a little effort was taken to browse through the Eva Air website, it would be known they are hiring FO's for the B744 and MD11 fleet. Know someone who got in recently into the B744 fleet.

The criterior are as follows,

1500TT, currency maintained, ICAO ATPL, Glass cockpit exp preffered...

Cheers!

Will 1500h, ATP and glass experience really get one an interview? Or are they looking for some jet airliner experience? What experience levels did the most recent F/Os have?

Just wondering

Just wondering, i've just put in an application. Im rated on the 747 with 5000++ jet hours. My questions are=

1. How long does it take to get a reply if ever?

2. Whats the pay like, do they pay your taxes, housing, providence fund?

3. How long to command?

4. Do the expats shuttle home on a regular basis, are there any restrictions on that, or maybe arrangements with the company?

5. Are there any bases outside?

6.Are they expending, what are they getting?

Thanks, these answers should help me in making a decision. All the help would be appreciated.

The Rage,

My understanding is that EVA (or the Taiwan authorities) do not hire 'foreign' F/Os.

I did NOT say they stopped hiring foreign pilots - I stated that my understanding is that they do not hire foreign F/Os.

Eva is currently taking 38 Varig's F/Os who are type rated on the MD-11. They are all on leave of absence with about 13 years with Varig. First class starts aug/22. Sorry to see a bunch of good guys leaving us.

You all take care down there and good luck.

If there Basic criteria is 1500 hrs and glass cockpit experience for FO consideration how many TW Nationals have that? If there are not enough they must consider expats surely.
Cheers. :)

Actually only 20 F/Os are being screened to move from Varig to Eva Air. All MD-11 rated and well flown.
The agreement was made between the two Ops Dep.
