just heard that Alliance is operating an F50 a few times in July for a coach operator, aimed squarely at skiers.

How can they do this without security at Wang when aircraft is over 20 tonnes ?

Not required if it's a closed charter not RPT.

If it is open charter, I believe Alliance have an approval from the Department to conduct their own screening. Alliance do a lot of tourism charter ops in the F50.

not a closed charter, so Alliance must be doing the screening at Wang end.

Well butter me on both sides and call me Barbara!

I have/had a lot of family in the Wang area and was out at Eldorado where my Grandfather built the lake with the non-original dredge in it for Cocks Pioneer Mining of which he was an owner but I never knew there was an Airport there.

Decent looking runway length and decent apron facilities.

Reasonable distance out of Wang but I guess you are headingf Bright way anyway.

Best all

Apart from all the details questioned above, it's great to see a non-aviation operator has thought about using private charter for the snow season. I hope it works out for them, and we see this happen more often!

Don't be so critical everyone. I'm sure CASA will be approving this operation before it happens, and bring many jobs back into the industry for pilots, cabin crew, engineers, ground staff, and check-in crew. It's must be better than be an out-of-work pilot driving a BUS from Adelaide to Wangaratta.

Hope it also makes Wangaratta a better airport, as it is under utilised. Flown there a few times, and always thought it could handle bigger ops.

Cheers KP

Operators running this sort of operation need to carefully consider the travesty that is Civil Aviation Safety Authority v Caper Pty Ltd
[2012] FCA 1213.

Kulwin Park, your optimism makes me smile.

Could they fly the F50 to Mt Hotham/YHOT?

F50 ADL/MHU ?

Yes, but same security issues as at Wangaratta & am sure there would be weight restriction, which means less checked luggage or passengers or both + weather at MHU means quite a few diversions to Albury or Corowa or Wagga or ?
