Sergeant Pilot Ron Croft filled in at short notice to be "Best Man" at my wedding in Brisbane 14/12/1957. I flew with him when he we were FltLts at CFS 1960s.
One could say he had an outgoing personality . During a night in the Mess he managed a week's Orderly Officer for surrounding the CO ( WgCdr Herb Plenty) with cigaret lighter fluid and , after ignighting if, jumped on the flames crying "I'll save you Sir !"

Funny how you know somebody but you don't really know him at all! These stories seem strange to the Ron Croft CAA ( or whatever it was called then ) Examiner I knew

I saw Ron quite often at one stage of my career, he also did a couple of my instrument and instructor renewals and certainly earned my high respect as a Examiner who I still regard as one of the best

Thanks Ron
