I certainly did not access gmail that much or even a tenth of those communications.

Just when I thought I'd got things under control I see a page or more of gmail lines on my History in FF. I can only assume it's the phone entering the equation. Do they do that?

Pity, it was all going so well - banking, emails etc. We'll see, but why would the phone communicate so vigorously?

It has the free kaspersky on at the moment, Full tomorrow if all goes well.

I can only assume it's the phone entering the equation. Do they do that? Wrong. / No.

We'll see, but why would the phone communicate so vigorously? They don't. Do you have FF on your phone?

It has the free kaspersky on at the moment, Full tomorrow if all goes well. The rare case when free stuff is better than the paid stuff. Why? It is useless crap so the free one is actually better as you don't pay for it. Mobile Android AV is a thriving business segment, no dispute. Hot air only*! The only tangible improvement is a secure line to your wallet. Your Bank gave you the AV not to protect you, but to prevent you from leaving. The AV company most likely struck a zero-pay deal with the bank to gain credibility.

*Unless you install shady APKs out of Google Play.
** note carefully the features of the best recommended solution
- malicious software (=will tell you when you install something stupid they know it is stupid from a database)
- back-up phone (feature supported and implemented by the OS itself)
- help locate missing (again, feature embedded in the system)
- web based phone (neat, most utilities like this do not boast with "security" label)
- drain battery (aah, finaly something not possible without the app in first place)
- eat memory (I added this myself)

Oh, I would love to have a brain again. It's just possible I'd have remembered what I pressed - on my PC - to stop Goo goo telling me about Talk or some such thing I seemingly couldn't live without.

It was about then - within hours - that I spotted the two pages of History in FF, showing Drive, Me, Other Folders, and Compose - frighteningly followed by a string of code on every line.

My hope is that it was Goo goo setting up that helpful thing I didn't want.

Please, please, why can't we just say, No Thanks, to such 'offers'?

Today, in one of my calls to Kasper, they'd remembered (logged) my concern about this and said they could see nothing to account for it. Nice to be soothed from so far afield.

In desparation I did a Reset of FF and it seems to have cured the problem. I don't like not knowing details, but a quick fix was welcome now.

FireFox Tools Options Advanced 'cashed web content' is now grey'd out. Automatic seems the standard setting, but I know I didn't alter that.

It still hangs at 36% in Ccleaner, but only for a few seconds. The list of Profiles is minute now by comparison.
