View Full Version : Changing the State of License Issue

I have couple of questions concerning my medical. At the moment I have my PPL and Medical issued by my home EASA country.

I'm going to start my CPL flight training in Poland later this year and now I want to change the the State of License Issue of my PPL to Poland.

1.
Everything seems to be clear with the PPL license but how about the Medical. Is it possible to keep my medical issued by my current home country as it is now and just send the medical documents to Polish CAA?
OR
Do I have to change my medical to Poland so that the state of issue of my Medical is then Poland?

2.
And the other question. I have done my initial Class 1 three years ago. No renewals yet so it is Class 2 at the moment. To make my Class 1 active again is it enough to do just the basic renewal? I mean that there is no need to do initial again?

Just one clarification to Q1 please. Is my medical is still printed and issued by my home county's CAA while the medical documents are held by the Polish CAA?

I can see around 500 views on you post with no indications of reply.
Tbh I have no idea on how to change it and if its fine to so that. But I think in sense that to be uk issue it has to go through one of their ATO in UK do their 14 caa exams and ir cpl mep ratings. But as I said am not over confident on it.
Try to contact schools like Airways Aviation or any. Or directly with CAA licensining enquires.

You will have to renew your home country class 1 in order to transfer licence state. For example, the UK CAA will ask you to sign a release of your medical records to the new state. This is all through the aeromedical department.

When I changed from the UK to another EASA state, the new state insisted that my class 1 was current for transfer.

To be crystal clear, you cannot have say a Polish EASA licence and a UK EASA medical. You can, however, with few provisos, renew a Polish class 1 with a UK EASA examiner. In my case, a UK AME conducted a medical exam, gave me a UK class 1 certificate and I sent it to the IAA who then gave me (for free) an Irish class 1. That's only one way of doing it, there are others.

Generally it is not a good idea to change your State of Issue just because you are training in a different State. If you are going to live & work there, then fine go ahead and change.

The medical records have to be kept by the State of Issue.

If you are training in a different state, then the Flight Examiner must be briefed by the state of licence issue. There is a document on the EASA website called Examiner Difference Docment
