Surprise, inasmuch as there is now a normal, not and damn 0745, number.

02030 549 3495 Quick and they knew my pain.

FireFox came out with an upgrade that basically does not work with the AV. The extensive use of add-ons I think, is the issue.

This morning I pulled out the i7 Vaio and every time Kasper was called it crashed FF. That machine is still on W7, so can't blame 10.

I have 16.0.0.614 (d) and that is the latest normal issue.

There is a Beta copy of Kasper that's available from them only as yet. Total reload with key from Barclays needed. Hope I can find it. :uhoh:

I wonder if I'll ever get to use my systems again and not just keep maintaining them.

Just had a looong word with Barclays - again. Finally, I got them to stop saying everything worked and my official complaint was closed. Now, after becoming . . . assertive, this issue is going to be escalated.

Now, one last thing. Does anyone who has this freebie know if the key is issued by Barclays or Kaspersky? That's going to be the next hair-tearing issue. I can feel it in my water.

Firstly, I made that name up. It's now supposed to work with FF without the issues with the Add-ons.

I followed their email to the letter which required totally un-installing Kasper but to my delight, had a box ticked for retaining the licence key. Funnily, I'd just found mine but a nice touch.

KIS16.0.1.445en-GB_full.exe arrived. 158mb of it.

The installation seemed straightforward, but I've only popped into Barclays to try it. It opened the protected browser, and still needs to be run on a different tab or you may have to close FF to close that green screen and hence lose other things. Separate tab seems the way to go.

Once I got through to Kasper support on a normal landline number, the service couldn't have been better, but In the back of my mind, I still can't shake that one-man-total-control-thing.

Just off to look for con-trails.

Last year, after 'upgrading' from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, then getting a further automatic upgrade from them around mid-September , the wireless internet connection stopped working on my laptop (HP Sleekbook 15-b130). I fitted a new wireless device but still no good. Then I found an article on the net which said that Kapersky was incompatible with Windows 10 on this machine.

Eventually the Kapersky licence expired, so I uninstalled all traces of it and loaded up an alternative anti-virus package. Lo and behold, the wireless connection works again!

At the time the wireless connection died, I also lost the 'print spooler'. Whether that is back yet I don't know.

One thing the article said, was that just switching Kapersky off makes no difference. You have to get rid of it completely off the machine.

Windows 10 for home use: no need for antivirus above the integrated Windows Defender. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware + AwCleaner for regular sweep, not too frequent.

It came to mind that Barclays might be more inclined to refund any losses if one was using AV software they'd handed out.

You put your hard drive in a blender? ;)

Frankly I have no idea what's the connection between your bank and AV. True, I'd be thinking twice before severing that one. OTOH, the bank's not gonna pay anything ever once they decide not to, Kaspersky or not.

If you reinstall W10 you can change the edition from 32 to 64 bit during the process.

Kaspersky was given FOC by Barclays. Seemed too good to miss.

I just hope you did not get exactly what you paid for.:uhoh:

I fear this might be the case. The computer has started crashing - can't catch the reported thing they send back. They being MS I think, but not sure. I'll read from the end next time.

Normally I like playing with computers, but now is a bad, bad time to have this hassle. Eye surgery in a few days and a book to promote - once I've learned how to drive the two web sites I've been given.

Now, FireFox is starting without the bookmarks toolbar and menu bar. I have no idea why. Kasper is paused - not that, that makes much difference.

Just don't seem to have all brain cells running right now.

Kasper emailed me! Wanted details. They'd picked up on the problem without my input.

One is disproportionally soothed by any positive communication right now.:hmm:

Then, coincidence or not, the activation code came for my phone. Ran the freebie and went for the upgrade. You have a new key? put in and away.

It does occur to me that my phone may well explode now.:p

Karma intervenes to make things right? Good sign before the surgery perhaps. Fingers crossed for your literary endeavour too!

Sorry this is so rushed and muddley, no answers required, just spreading the word about the work Kasper is putting into these issues.

The Rivetess in Texas has just done a total reinstall of W7 and has subsequently hit the same problems with totally separate software. All downloaded in the US. It seems it might be a world wide problem.

***********

Got a personal email from Kasper again today. Instructions for sending the "What's going on in your computer" file and how to get the key from their main screen.*

They told me not to worry about the speed of my reply - which is usually 7 days. Nice they should be so understanding.

I had just leaned there is a highly specialized removal tool for the old program(s) But to my relief, it's okay not to use that. I'd followed another email which showed the normal un-install and was freaking out because I thought maybe it's vital to use the removal tool and new problems may have resulted from going the simple route.

Remaining problems are a light Blue screen telling me there's a problem and then Restarting. Plus the FF thing of pages of "Profiles" that Ccleaner takes an age to kill. This has become a problem suddenly and associated with the new FF. Nice that Kasper is willing to look at their interaction with FF and consider all the issues rather than pass the buck.

*the key is not the same as the activation key which is four lots of five. Go to Kasper bottom right of their screen where it says how many days you've got left and click on that. Mucho data, and an odd key of varied length 'words'.

they need a photo of this to issue one with a new ordinary activation key should the one deep down in the PC becomes lost.

I used to love all this stuff - so much that I had to NOT read computer books while flying. I'd become so engrossed that Morocco would go by unnoticed - and I was only going to Guernsey. :)

Same deal, no answers required - unless you just happen to have had the same things.

Kaspersky, with the latest file they sent me that superseded the 'current version' seems to be fine with FireFox in everyday use on PC and big laptop. However, having run for several days on my phone, it suddenly went all pouty about having to share that with FF. Totally refused to turn green and smile. It warned me why saying it was designed to work with the Android search. Anyway, I uninstalled FF App, and Kasper is happy again.

Meanwhile, wife in Texas with totally independent new W7 load and of course new FF, is having interaction problems. I've offered the Kasper file sent to me, but so far not tried. The isolation of the two machines does indicate a very real problem.

I would be very suspicious of an email sent to me by an AV vendor, if I hant contacted them first. I certainly wouldnt load anything they sent me..

The file I received was after dialogue with Kasper. The could see I had the latest software and already knew it objected to FF. The new file was a fix that seems to have worked.

In the same call they assured me the FF for Android issue will be resolved soon.

I get the feeling someone in FF doesn't like Kasper. Not the other way round.

What's the issue again ? I have used Kas from Barclay's on W7 without issue but stick with IE. Safe browser pages didn't complete on Chrome for example.

Yes, specifically FF that causes the problems. Kaspersky said one or more of the plug-ins/Add-ons had caught them out since they'd been written differently in a late FF issue. Something like that.

It may be this happened when I loaded FF for 10. Not sure, but certainly about that time. Come to think of it, a W7 laptop started to throw wobblers with FF about the same time. I've put the same Kasper file on both.

My Kasper for Android worked for days, then suddenly there was an unequivocal warning that FF would not be acceptable as the browser. I killed the App but am assured I will be able to reload FF soon. Kaspersky would not turn green during this period.
