Just made the lunchtime TV news here in the Midi-Languedoc (or whatever we are now called)...

He had a very good innings living to the age of 94.
His English counterpart Brian Trubshaw only made it to 77, having died in 2001.
RIP old timer.
Few get to fly Mach 2 through the Pearly Gates carrying a 100 lucky souls with them. God speed!

Sad news of one of the greats of EUROPEAN aviation.
can still [just mind] visualise RB talking and the flickering live tv pictures from Toulouse.

Had the chance to meet him once eons ago (after he retired but was still active in aviation, which he completely turned his back to in the latter part of his life) and I still vividly remember it.
I guess he might be one a the "happy few", to actually fly the most amazing aircraft humanity will ever build. If we ever return to supersonic flight the pilot will be at best a computer supervisor - no way will he be in charge as Turcat & all have been in the '60s. A truly blessed period.
