I hold a CASA/ICAO CPL and I am looking at moving to the UK soon. My CASA (Australian)“command ME aeroplane” instrument rating expired some years ago and I am just wondering if this needs to be current to convert my CPL to the UK/EASA? My CASA CPL is VFR current (BFR), but just want to know if not having a current Instrument Rating is going to complicate the conversion process. Thanks for any assistance here.

No it will not, But expect to jump through the EASA hoops to get your IR converted.

Converted mine about 18 months ago.......Can recommend Caledonian Advanced Pilot Training - Quality Training For Safer Pilots (http://www.captonline.com)
for the theory click on CPL A/H

good luck.....and have plenty of cash for conversion

The best place to ask about IRs is PAT in Bournemouth.

If you want an I/R as well it will save you money if your I/R is current.
You can only convert a licence and rating you hold.
It always used to be 50 hours training for an I/R v 15 hours to convert an I/R. Just something to consider.
