It is a bit dodgy isn't it?

I knew that firefighters were in line to receive satisfaction, I didn't know that GAD errors may have extended to AFPS in the noughties though.

Not the Scottish Royal Air Force mind? ;)

It isn't rubbish or gibberish, the determination referred to is sound.

I just wasn't aware it (possibly) applied also, to the military though. It might still not, the facts of the piece referring to the military may be inaccurate. But maybe Voxpop has some greater insight?

Different teams within GAD advise on the various public sector pension schemes. I knew there was a historical problem related to firefighters and the police, interestingly both schemes are owned by DCLG and it's predecessor ODPM.... Other public sector pension schemes are unaffected as far as I'm aware. I'd have expected GAD to have conducted an exercise to check all the factors for all the schemes to ascertain the extent of the issue, however what do I know...

Al, my understanding is that this ruling does not impact the Armed Forces Pension Scheme in any way.

There was a problem with AFPS factors some years ago but those issues were sorted out.

FPS were involved highlighting the problem and we got the money section on the BBC website involved. Armed forces pensioners underpaid, admits MOD - BBC News (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-14459697)
