View Full Version : 13th month for hkg based flight crew?

The company announces "2016 salary increment for Hong Kong-based ground staff and the cabin crew this week, together with also a one-month bonus payment."
But doesn't mention flight crew getting anything, though there has been talk of tax loans this year.
We're in CC, so no 13th month for us?

Check the wording in your CoS. Not much wiggle room for them not to pay it IMHO.

Good grief. Stop the panic. The company is already rattled enough by the scheduling disaster. Not even they would try to inflame things that way. Relax.

They must really think these airplanes fly themselves.
What an oversight....Amazing.

I believe this year it is assured.

For the avoidance of doubt, they will only cap, reduce or withhold the 13th month payment in years when they consider the profit to be marginal or negative. In any other year when they consider the profit to be satisfactory, the 13th month will be paid in full.

unless you are based and pay two sets of tax, then it is reduced to 0!

Curtain, that may have been true the first couple of years after it was included in the based monthly pay, but in the years after that, inflation slowly eroded that away while the monthly pay was benchmarked against monthly pay at the local competitors in the base area, 13th month not included. In other words, we got screwed as usual and don't really get the 13th month.

Anyway, hope you HK boys get your 13th month. :ok:

Yes curtain rod that was the case in 2002..........

That's 13 years ago my friend.

Now my pay is still less than QF even with this "13th month" included.

CX have been benchmarking my pay in Oz since 2002 with that included and still it hasn't kept up with inflation or QF.

Curtain...
And as I have to point out each year, that was all smoke and mirrors.
As part of the 'market forces' pay review, which resulted in most of us having an 18-23% pay CUT, their survey found that based B scale F/O'S (Only), were being paid BELOW market levels. Thus to retain them and attract DEFO's they had to INCREASE their salary. This was deemed unpalatable, even for them, when others were having their salaries cut, so they dreamed up the '13th month included' story in order to give them an 8% pay raise. Thus, it was only applicable to B scale F/O scales (no B scale based CNs then), a con.,and long since eroded by inflation, as others have mentioned.
Please don't perpetuate the Company's lies for them, they don't need any help!

Will you and Goathead please leave the divide and conquer bit to the company?

It's all the fault of the B-scalers.
No, it's the Dragonair boys that did for us.
Hang on, if the Freighter captains hadn't signed on to the freighter deal...
Wait, it's really due to ASL
No, no, you're wrong, it's all the fault of the new HKPA cadets!
This is all due to DEFOs
Personally, I blame the extendees
Blame the spiky hair brigade!
Nope, it's all due to bases, before bases everything was fine
:ugh:

Some people just can't get the basic fact of who is holding the strings here

Spot on Main Dog. Most of the people on these forums think it is their work colleagues fault for how history has panned out. That's why we never get anywhere. Stupid infighting, accusations, name calling etc. Meanwhile the source of ALL of our woes just sits back and laughs. Pathetic really.

It was (is) a system error. It errors because it is a horrible system, all of CX. Not just leave, but rostering and the rest of the third floor. This to say nothing of fuel hedging and lost opportunities. At least it's entertaining...
