Hi,

Doing a study on life jackets on commercial aircraft and had a few questions I was hoping to get some insight into.
For the life vest containers, are there EASA or FAA guidelines for their need/specification or anything about them for domestic US, intra-Europe and then international flights?
For the actual life vests, similar questions: EASA or FAA guidelines for their need for domestic US, intra-Europe and then international flights. I read somewhere that US domestic flights don’t need a life jacket (hence no container) but don’t know how true that is.

Thanks for your help!

What 'containers' mate? The little plastic fabric cover the pax lifejackets come in and you rip open to put the jacket on, or the hidy hole under each seat?

Or are you talking about a bag full of the ~10% more jackets carried than pax that sit up in one of the overheads?

For actual requirements - FAA, have a look around FAR91. For EASA I'll make an assumption and say somewhere in CS-26.
