Caught end of a news story. PPP to have international charters next year.

Anyone have the details ?

Is there security screening? Could they do it with less than 20T? Maybe they could do it with a NZ AOC, much easier than dealing with CASA, right?

TT738. Why go into PPP when they can go into HTI, as they do now!

There's a dirty great runway down the road at Laguna Quays unbespoiled by aircraft tyres...

Well NZ is due to launch another route in early 2016, just did SGN. So surely the next one will be short-haul, they have done pretty well out of MCY.

think story was about charters not launching a new route.

I think they are looking for a similar arrangement to Wellcamp. Fly produce out to China and maybe goods for a new Chinatown in Airlie Beach?

Fly produce out to China

Maybe they could call the Crown of Thorns Starfish something exotic and start a new export industry.

I lived in the Whitsundays between '94 and 2003. Lot of attempts to pull this off both by David mariner at Laguna (got as far as a real nice 2klm grass strip) and also by Prosvegas Council pretty much all attempts to get international flights going was kneecapped by customs and immigration because it was to far for them to drive to process passengers. Not hard to do the sums on how much income was lost because of bureaucrats that could not work a solution to their problem. Now decade and a half later another attempt probably same outcome.
