Came across this today:

Cirrus Deploys Parachute In Arkansas, Hits Truck - AVweb flash Article (http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/Cirrus-Deploys-Parachute-In-Arkansas-Hits-Truck-225155-1.html)

Without wanting to be an armchair expert, I'm surprised at how high the descent rate was from 10,000 ft. Aviate, Navigate, Communicate.

A video of the impact is here:

Plane lands on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Fayetteville | Fayetteville Flyer (http://www.fayettevilleflyer.com/2015/11/03/plane-crashes-on-martin-luther-king-jr-boulevard/)

I note the seatbelt airbags deployed successfully as expected. Oh to be rich... :{

219kts, that boy was in an awful hurry to reach terra firma, isn't that a little north of VNE? Pity, if he'd just pottered along at best glide he should easily have been able to dead stick in at the local airport.

Edit: I was being a little facetious - I guess he was working on doing exactly that but things got away from him. Ah well, the silk letdown saved the day.

The descent rate seemed somewhat higher than the recent one here in the Blue Mountains and I note that the Blue Mountains one was fitted with the larger chute. I would think that the larger chute should be standard; you're hardly going to ask for a small one ! :confused:

Think larger chute was only brought in on the Vs to allow a higher MTOW in competing with C400s.:confused:
