Meanwhile, a new report by the taxpayer-funded Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) lists the lack of Avgas as a medium level threat to air force operations in its new capability snapshot of the Australian Defence Force.

“We’d struggle after a month with avgas,” Dr Davies said.

Indeed. After a month with avgas all their aircraft would be kangaroo edward.

No doubt there is a cunning plan to requisition our GA fleet and turn them into flying b###s once they have all been fitted with ADSB so Defence can track the results.

''Twas me.

Not that I'm paranoid, mind. But I did read that big brother possibly scans discussion boards like this for such words :-)

And very tongue in cheek.

Speaking of "Shallow Journalism" I see our resident "Aviation Expert" is at it again.

Russian plane crash: Evidence points to previous tail damage being likely cause of crash, expert says - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-11-04/evidence-points-to-tail-damage-being-likely-cause-of-plane-crash/6913122)

Yes, I notice that G.T. has that one solved already.

Dr Andrew Davies of the taxpayer funded 'Australian Strategic Policy Institute' thinks that jets run on avgas..

And the Feds want to increase our taxes!

So, the stumpy-tailed baggie from Port Hedland has crawled out from under his rock and put an end to speculation.
I do so look forward to his pontifications on ANY aviation-related matter.

I'm also sure that the 'Russian authorities' will be much relieved to hear that our self-appointed 'expert' agrees with them on a point.

Oh, i think yer covered that by using the word "defence". Saying GPS guided Terrorist bomb just makes them put the coffee cup down and pay attention..:)

I think all the aviation engineering companies in Australia can make all their design and structural engineers redundant. They should now hire GT as a consultant as he is a genius in all facets of aviation; ops crewing, engineering and now crash investigation.
If a few more bag snatchers were like him imagine the money saved by not employing skilled, qualified specialists who have big salaries.

Geoffrey Thomas, the Perth-based editor of Airlineratings.com, said he believed damage from a "tail-strike" during a heavy landing in Cairo 14 years ago was the most likely cause of Saturday's crash that killed 224 people

Will we see GT printing a retraction, now that Russian investigators have confirmed bomb chemical residue?

Will he offer an apology to the airline's engineers and the manufacturer's repair designers who together repaired the aircraft correctly after the tail strike?

Bag chucking for a year or two in the 1970's, an aviation expert does not make - nor a crash investigator. Go directly to the Chairman's lounge. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
