Austin's ATCT was flooded in recent TX rains. Airport received 14+ inches of rain Friday, six inches of water reported in Tracon. Houston Center has taken over App/Dep Control duties, and a temporary Tower was due to be trucked down from Kansas City this evening, possibly operating by Monday.

News station reports that local control has moved back in to the tower. However TRACON in the basement will be shut down for a month to repair flood damage. Houston Center will continue to provide approach control service.

Supposedly, they are trying to get App/Dep moved to SAT soon. I assume AUS controllers will be commuting to SAT when set up. Still won't be 100% capacity, but better.

It's all just electrons and a place to sit. Doing 85 in a G-car on SH130 folks won't even be TDY, they'll just go home every day.

There is some corporate experience over simply a contingency plan with ATC-0 after Chicago center's recent issues.
