Looking at DUB-JFK for Saturday and for two of us Aer Lingus have offered the comedy online check-in option of two single middle seats, 10 rows apart, for free or two out of three in a middle row for 20 Euros each. That's it.

Are the loads really that high or are they taking the proverbial in the hope we will pay for the seats next to each other? :hmm:

(PS two friends travel on the same flight on a different Locator have been offered the same seats...)

When did they start charging for transatlantic seat selection? Been 18 months since I flew the route but I don't recall them charging for any seats then or prior bar the exit rows.

Is this an IAG thing?

Have to say I am becoming less and less impressed. Their bag and seat fees are OTT as far as I'm concerned. No longer my first choice.

I've a horrible feeling you're being scammed and that if you wait until 24 hours before the flight to check in you'll probably find seats together for free. But it is a risk.
