I sent a email to America Airlines myid Travel to find out when American Airlines would reestablish its agreement with EK through myid Travel. This was AA response.

Subject: Agreement with Emirates

When will American Airlines reestablish an agreement with Emirates Airlines through my id travel?

Regards,

Retired AA employee

AA response,

If/when AA reestablishes a commercial agreement to support interline eTicketing or if/when Emirates collects the correct myIDTravel fee (i.e., they currently charge twice the industry approved fee) from our employees and can commit to refunding tickets in a timely manner.

Does anyone know, within Emirates, where I can send this response. :ugh:

Our staff travel department are renowned for their incompetence, so you would be sadly wasting your time I'm afraid.

EK abuses their own employees when it comes to staff travel costs. Couldn't even imagine what they charge OAL staff. Good on American..

Why would you not want to pay full price Habibi? You should feel humble and privileged that EK even lowered itself to allow AA employees to travel on its superior jets.
Why Habibi do you want to travel on your day off? Have you seen the beautiful mountains of Ras Al Khaima? surely nothing is more beautiful, you have no need to travel my friend, you really should stop thinking about anything other than being grateful for your job, there are thousands who would willingly replace you.

GT,

I guess when AA found out EK was charging AA employees "twice the industry approved fee" AA basically said your not going to do that to our employees. The travel agreement was terminated.

Originally, when the agreement was terminated, I thought it was because the merger between AA and US Airways. They had two separate reservation systems. AA/US completed the cutover to a single res system last week. I thought that AA could flip a switch to turn the agreement back on. Now I find that it was because EK was over charging other airline employees. Shame on EK. I have some AA friends that would like to visit from DFW. It's a nice non-stop instead of having to go through Europe. Its revenue for EK.

Now that the proof/truth is out in the open I would like to call out EK staff travel for over charging OAL employees.

I have a friend who works for an airline in Europe and he gets concessional travel on EK but we cannot get the same with the company he works for and the issue is not with the other airline. Not only that but he has travelled on EK flights cheaper than I can as an employee.

Standby fares were increased not that long ago for EK staff but a number of Indian destinations were mysteriously reclassified into lower fare categories. The fact that management and most of the staff within staff travel are Indian, is purely a coincidence and to think that nepotism and prejudice is involved is grossly unfair! :E

You don't want to be sat in Economy on any of our US flights I can assure you. Why not get a AA flight and then break the journey up somewhere in Europe, which would be a more civilized experience?

my friends who fly for different european airlines travel cheaper on emirates than me as an employee, emailed staff travel 15 years ago and was given an BS answer, also asked why we can't have buddy passes and was told its agains sharia, a few years later emptihad started and they got buddy passes, they must have a different sharia there

Emirate was charging ZM fares for American airline and they were not charging higher than any other airline.

The agreement is universal ZL,ZM or ZH and emirate is ZM and probably american airline like ZL agreement and that's why they ended their agreement.

I think they are referring to the $1 (or so / can't remember the exact surcharge) per coupon ticketing fee that myIDtravel adds on top of the interline fare. Maybe EK was charging twice that amount? I doubt they'd get away with unilaterally doubling the Zone fare.

EK is however quite proficient in withholding refunds over extended periods, especially from its own staff, not just for tickets but for medical claims also. While it is paid eventually, the company surely makes money in interest from holding onto the cash for a minimum of 30 days or more. Not to mention the fact that staff may forget after protracted delays to chase it up and therefore lose the whole amount outright.

Knowing AA, they only canceled the agreement after EK refused to give AA a cut of the fees they hammered AA employees with.

As for the benefit of EK employees traveling in the states, forget it, IDTravel fares are worthless on my US major, with just so happens to be at the top of the alphabet. ;) The flights are stuffed 90% of the time and I routinely see ZED's orphaned on departure.

AA management is filling every seat at the last minute through sales. Even employee are having those "WTF? moments" when traveling after picking a flight with open seats the day before and it filled up overnight.
