I have just read that an ex-Air Bridge Cargo B744F has been registered in UK to this company. Seems it's being formed as a UK offshoot.
Any info on jobs etc?

B744F is suppossed to be in Marshalls having paint job. Expected to emerge next week with the G Registration.

Contact Volga Dnepr in STN and I am sure they will give you the correct telephone number.

Their own.
GSS AOC was finally surrendered in March after nearly a year without any planes.

So where is this airline's UK base going to be?

There were strong rumours a while ago that it was going to be at MAN, but I'm now hearing stories from sources (don't know how reliable they are) that it will be STN based.

Anyone know?

How can it’s possible to take so long to have an operator Certificate, when you have a 747 ready to fly on ground?

You apparently do not have any concept of the MANY facets of requirements and qualifications that precede an AOC. Training, Maintenance, Ground Handling, Safety, Dispatch, and Operations manuals and procedures must be developed and approved. People must be found to generate the manuals, become qualified as trainers, and find & train the workers. Then the inspectors have to observe and approve a round of proving flights performed by the trained & qualified workers.

It's a LOT more involved than buying an airplane and finding a couple pilots to fly it...

You’re right.

Do you think it’s profitable to have a 747 on ground?

You can keep an AOC for up to six months without having any planes in it, as long as the management structure and financial flow is sufficient.

Of course it isn't profitable having it on the ground but sometimes it has to happen.

In this instance CLA had hoped the a/c would be in revenue service by now but there have been delays in the CAA granting the AOC that they had hoped to avoid (and no, I won't go into details!).

Either way, as others have said, there is far more to getting an AOC than buying an aircraft and recruiting the crew. It all takes time and sometimes you have to have the a/c parked up for a bit while the last bits are inspected/approved/cerrified etc.

I expect they will be operational before the end of next month though.

The project itself looks interesting.

For me it could be a chalange to fly cargo and change from Airbus to Boeing.:)

Stansted-based Cargologicair has confirmed its launch, and that it will add a second 747F to its fleet in July.

The previously silent airline issued a press release today, after the The Loadstar broke the news that it had received its AOC last week.

The air cargo carrier plans to have a fleet of five 747Fs by April 2018. It has remained silent on which routes it intends to operate. The release also confirmed that Peter van de Pas, who has been SVP operations for AirBridgeCargo since his resignation as COO of Cargolux in 2014, becomes COO & accountable manager for the new airline.

Dmitry Grishin, CEO, said: “We are proud to have been awarded our AOC after meeting all of the UK CAA’s strict requirements. We are grateful to all involved in the certification process who helped us to make the company stronger, particularly the helpful and professional team at the CAA.

“Our aim now is to become a leader in the European air cargo market by earning a strong reputation for the highest levels of service, safety and efficiency. We have a very experienced team in CLA that combine operational expertise and regulatory knowledge, and a clear strategy for the future.

“We believe that the all-cargo airline business model has its place on the market.”

Steve Harvey, Cargologicair’s chief commercial officer, added: “We believe this is the right time to launch a new UK cargo airline. We created the company in the UK, which has a rich heritage of all-cargo specialist carriers including big names like HeavyLift, AirFoyle and others. The UK is the second largest air cargo market in the EU and its economy is growing. Using our knowledge, we plan to make a strong contribution to putting the UK back on the map of global all-cargo leaders. We have been extremely encouraged by the level of interest from our customers and expect this to result in us attracting the level of business we need to support our growth strategy over the next three to five years.”
