Converting CASA PPL(A) to EASA

Hi,

I have searched through many posts on here and other websites but can't seem to find the information I'm after.

I need to get an EASA validation for my CASA PPL(A) by the middle of March 2016.

I understand that I need to do an Air Law & a Human Performance exam plus the flight test. Once this is complete, how long does the validation take to be processed? I.e is it like an Australian PPL where it takes a minimum of 1 month for the paperwork to turn up in the mail, or can the testing officer sign off a validation as soon as the flight test is passed?

Similarly, does the EASA medical take x amount of time to be processed & returned like it does in Australia?

Trying to figure out how much time I will need in the UK to get the validation complete & be legal to fly in March.

Try contacting the State authority where you wish to fly.
Now that we have ICAO compliant part 61 licences you may not need as much as you think. I recently flew solo in France and Italy on my Aussie licence.:)

Just done the whole process for ATPL... As for the medical as long as you are fit and healthy you receive the paperwork on the day

Do you have more than 100hrs 'certified' aeroplane category logged?

If not it may not be only flight test.
Besides, some area/airspace famil may be needed.

Without 100hr+ you would need ATO (school exFTO in Europe) recommendation and CAA OK'd. UK CAA has doc of 'automatic pre-approval for converting papers based on experience, is minimum training. Others likely not.

As for medical, records needto be kept at state of issue, although you can do medical at approved easa doc. Then he/you send over or hand deliver forms.

As for length, no bull**** ASIC equivalent, could be week by post, or same day in person. All depends on where you'd do it.

Oh, some countries may recognise foreign icao licence for PPL privileges some strictly don't. Really depends on airspace and aircraft registry.
