Hi Ppruners, Anyone got any info regarding Pay and Conditions for J* NZ A320 FO. Are they on a separate EBA to J* Aus? If so where can this be found?

The Jetstar NZ pilots are on their own seperate CEA for NZALPA members. When you join you automatically go onto the CEA (collective employment agreement), you then have 90 days to join NZALPA and if you don't your contract becomes an IEA (individual employment agreement) and you are on your own. I think they have around 95% union membership. The CEA is currently under negotiation as the current one expires in March.

I dont have a copy of current CEA but a brief outline is:

1st year A320 FO : $97,000 base + $3,000 when Queenstown qualified.
Overtime above 65 hours per month of $130 per hour
Overnight allowance of approx $120 per 24 hours.
No DTA at this stage.
Performance bonus can be paid when the company feels like it, they have had one paid in the last 3 years.
5 weeks leave + stats (8 days).
Staff travel in line with Qantas policy so is quite good, very cheap domestically in NZ.
5 years probably about right for a command but that could reduce due to an expected exodus of Qantas guys back to mainline over the next 18 months.

Not 100% sure but from what I've gathered from various sources its salary sacrifice but I stand to be corrected.

On another note, I just had a phone interview yesterday...anyone else had one or progress to the next stage? Any help would be appreciated:ok:

What kind of hours/experience have you got 00000111? Trying to work out if I'm even in the running a for a phone call! What's the phone interview all about as well? Just a chat or an on the spot spontaneous interview??

Best of luck with the next step 00000111,

Interesting to note that Jetstar have now changed the location of the job.

'Various locations' instead of NZ based. I wonder if they weren't getting enough bites at first? Also heard there's 15 or so cadets starting in SY!! Not great for direct entry candidates.

I got called for a phone interview with less than that. I understand they are short now and a few more airframes for NZ on the horizon as well, so potentially plenty of jobs coming up.

I get the impression there are plenty of Australian guys and girls lining up to move over the ditch for these jobs so plenty to compete with...

Good luck guys, must be looking for some serious experience, I got turned down at the application stage even with A320 rating.

Don't get too worried. Two weeks could be a month or more in Jetstar world.

They may have put the recruitment on the back burner while they plan training. I know they couldn't get sim time for type ratings until about March.

They're still desperate for crew over there..... I was over for 6 days this month..... Two weeks last month.....

Did anyone actually end up getting called back ?

Not the same position as others who have phone interviewed already but I got a missed call a couple of weeks ago. She asked me to call her back which I did but it went straight to answering machine. Tried another 3 times over next few days then gave up! Seems something has definately changed since then.

They have probably cancelled recruitment again. It has happened to me twice before in Australia. Because I had the pre-interview or psychometric testing and had started the recruitment process, I had to stand down for another whole year even though I never failed it. :ugh:

Does anyone actually know what is going on here ? Have they hired anyone ? I have understood they are desperately short of crew and with new routes coming. Also soon to potentially loose a few F/Os to air nz.
I know jetstar NZ put the call out on the wire for those interested several months ago but did any actually get interviewed ?

I haven't heard of any which is why I ask...

PM would be fine

They have hired 16 FO's for the NZ operation, I think the majority of those (12) are straight from the Cadet program as CASA and the CAA have signed off on Cadets being based in AKL.

You are right though, since that hiring there have been a number of FO's resign to go to the desert and more will go if Air NZ hire externally again so there will be more recruitment in the next few months.

There was a number of interviews Nov and Dec for people other than cadets with a number being offered jobs, atleast one ground school running at the moment.

Oh yeah, mostly Aussie cadets. That'll explain why I haven't heard much.

I was quite disappointed to hear that they did do a bunch a recruiting for NZ positions and said yes to a whole bunch of guys but NO NEW ZEALANDERS
were recruited !

All Australians apparently. I hope my info is wrong but I know this is a growing trend in the NZ airline game - particularly the jets. I find it so ironic that as a avid reader of D & G over the last 10 years I have seen so much whinging about Kiwi's under cutting with their lower pay etc etc bla bla and sure plenty of Kiwis flying in OZ but when there are plenty of jet jobs going over in the land of the long white stuff the said Whingers have no problem racing over getting that jet time and heading off back home as soon as they can...

I don't really want to start a pissing contest between oz & nz but seriously, what gives man ?

I highly doubt there were a lack of kiwi takers as I personally know plenty of super keen experienced guys and gals who would give a left nut to work for J*, Virgin, Jetconnect and of course have all applied and would stay forever ! And there will be plenty more than those I know, - particularly in the Links whom have been told no by big brother...

Does NZALPA have any position on this ?

I know of 2 guys who started within the last 2 months, both kiwi. Might not recognise their accents though as they had been in Oz at least 5 years flying.

With the talk of air NZ recruiting externally onestar might be nervous about losing a whole heap of guys to the koru like what happened 3 years ago

Any word on recruitment for March? Are they offering jobs? Anyone received an offer or interviewed? Put in application but waiting!
