Hello to all

I recently came across with an old chipmunk that hasn´t flown for about 10 years, it suffered an accident, engine and propeller ok, but need to replace some structures, the work was done but some burocratic processes (mainly changes from JAA to EASA rules) grounded the A/C.
The Chip has since been stored. My question is what would be the process to re-certify that bird and the best way to deal with all the overhaulls and airworthy certificates?

UK manufactured Chippies have been moved into the Annex II list as they are no longer supported by the type certificate holder.

Depending on your state of registry, you may be able to get the aircraft moved from a full certificate of airworthiness to a sub-ICAO category which may allow more leeway on getting repairs approved.

In the UK many are now on a permit to fly under auspices of the LAA.

The Chip was built originally in Portugal, was a former Air Force bird, latter on with civilian registration was modified to the Lycoming engine and had flown under a british registration.

So any sugestion so as to start?

From the stories I have heard, a ground-up restoration can cost you more than three times the cost of a current working aircraft.

A zero-timed Gipsy Major is likely to cost you as much as the aircraft itself.

Which would make it the former FAP 1345, msn OGMA-35.

Just doesn't look right with a Lycoming, :O
