Now that I'm back in the Commander fold I've been very frustrated with an ancient mailing list they keep in touch via. It's very hard to keep track of conversations or finding old information, and the only other factory forum being more or less dead - I suggested we start a new forum. The idea is to be a place on the internet for all things Commander, both pistons and turbines. Previously, there has always been a little gulf between the turbine owners/pilots and the piston owners and this is something I, and all Commander owners, hope the new forum can eliminate. Forum is hosted by a new Commander owner named Glenn who's in the software business and has his own servers.

For anyone at all interested in Commanders, pistons or turbines, or anyone wanting to contribute anything Commander, please know that you're most welcome at the new forum. You can view as guest. There's also a classified section if you want to sell a Commander, parts or anything. Obviously, it's early days yet and membership is growing, graphic profile is being refined etc, but we have some heavy hitters joining. I am myself not part of the executive branch or have any involvement, I just want it to succeed and become a good resource.

I have a 1973 Shrike 500 S commander and the keys were lost. Does anyone know where to get keys or how to get keys made.

Adam, I have really enjoyed all your posts and the way you write. It is almost like you are talking directly to me as you write in such easy to read way. I am sure you could write a book with your style of writing. Please can you keep posting on this forum, as your adventures are more interesting than the usual arguments and moaning on forums. I am a VFR flyer in UK, who understands a sprit of adventure.

Thank you John for your kind words.

I'm not much on this forum anymore, but I can tell you that I've finally started flying my old Turbo Commander 680V after about 2 years in the shop. She's a great performer, although there's still a lot to do.

From the late 90s onward for a few years I was flying the AC90 & 95B single crew quite literally 'world-wide' on survey ops.. Probably the best flying of my 30 yr career. Setting off alone from the UK to South or Central America through the winter arctic, Middle or Far East, South Africa.. testing at times but I learned a real passion for flying the turbine TCs. The 95B would get me up into the mid 30s.. (a real 'Airway' blocker) ATC would fall over themselves to offer me 'direct' to wherever I needed to go. Maybe the most exotic flight (among so many).. taking off from Manaus for Santarem just before midnight with huge, magnificent CBs lighting up the sky in every direction, staying (very) low following the Amazon seeing the river and rain forest lighting up in almost continuous flashes.. 2 hours that will stay with me forever.. Many other trips that pilots might only dream of doing.. A great airplane to have around me.

Thanks Mungo. Good stories.

My ultimate dream plane is a 695 with the 6.7psi cabin. They're stellar performers. Just a little pricy still. One day, one day... ;)
