Victoria, and the new government.

An average train driver will now be paid $143,600 and a ticket inspector will cash in $98,797 with superannuation on top.

Station officers, including those who announce late trains and sell Mykis, will also get a beefed up pay packet with their wage jumping to $98,797.

Don't believe everything you read. :=

Your "average" freight train driver, in Victoria, is on around $95,000 without working overtime. Your average suburban driver is not on that much more, and certainly nowhere near $140,000! How do I know? Look at my location!

The only drivers earning that sort of coin are those in the Pilbara, or a few QR Coal drivers who chase overtime.

Yep, In much the same manner it has been claimed the lowest paid Qantas pilot is on $126,000 with A380 captains on over $536,000 when the QF pilots were in their EBA negotiations.

Did they really get a 14% increase? If that's true how does the company pass those sorts of costs on?

Work only three hours day?

The bit a the end got me as well
The union wants only drivers to move trains — sometimes as little as 2 metres to finish maintenance tasks.

But that would lead to in some cases work coming to a standstill for eight hours while a driver is put in a taxi and driven to the depot to move a train.

Really?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine how disruptive and dysfunctional it would be if pilots were the only ones allowed to move aircraft.

Surely some of these conditions must be misprints.

Is that any different to the wharfies refusing to allow army drivers to move Australia's newly arrived Leopard tanks off the ships and onto "their" wharves, meaning union members had to be sent to Kapooka to learn how to drive a tank so they could be moved 100m?:ugh::ugh:

At least one suicide a week on the tracks. Drivers are advised to look away. Those that didn't report a smile, and then need counselling if they are to ever return to work.
