Hi all

Have to say I'm a little upset!!
I put in a claim for my sons education fee abroad, it was for the full 47500aed.
I receive my wages and it looked a little light.
Spoke to the spokes person in the education department and was told I was only entitled to 19500aed!!!!
How can this be, the handbook clearly States the financial reimbursements and I've been given less then half!!
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

Assuming you're a pilot, the allowance will vary depending on the level of education your children are receiving. Secondary school, for example, has the first 36,250AED paid at 100% by the Company. 90% of the remaining fees are then paid by EK up to a maximum of 72,500AED. Any amount over the maximum is paid in full by yourself. These figures are for 2015/16 and effective from 1st September. It's also pro rata so if you've not done a full year here, your allowance will reflect that.

Whilst it's often helpful to get a few pointers on these forums, why not question the discrepancy with the relevant department? Copy in HR as well so there is visibility in the process. They don't often make mistakes to be fair, but in this case it's definitely worth following up.

They generally pay per term. I doubt they would reimburse the spring term this early. Just a guess though... I'd email them to follow up.

If you have paid the year in advance they will reimburse half June, at the earliest, and the remainder in December. If you pay by term they reimburse by term.
