TransAsia plane makes safe landing after one engine is shut off mid-flight: Shanghaiist (http://shanghaiist.com/2015/09/08/transasia-plane-safe-landing-one-engine-fails-mid-flight.php)
"Flight GE505 took off from the Taipei Songshan Airport at 7:55 a.m. this morning, and a problem was detected with the lubricant oil in engine No. 2 at 8:36 a.m., Focus Taiwan reports.
Following standard procedure, pilots shut down the malfunctioning engine and landed at the Magong Airport on Penghu Island at 8:55 a.m. The ATR 72-500 aircraft was carrying 22 people, all of whom disembarked safely.
Two flights going between Magong and Kaohsiung were canceled in the wake of the faulty engine.
In February, 43 people were killed when a plane from the same carrier crashed into Taipei's Keelung River after one of its engines lost power. Investigation later showed that the pilot had made the fatal mistake of switching off the working engine after the other one failed.
Over a year ago, a TransAsia ATR 72-500 crashed while trying to land at Penghu Island amid adverse weather conditions, killing 48 of the 58 passengers on board."
