I was asked about reheat and, since I've never flown FJ, couldn't answer.
(Water-meth injection in the Argosy RR Dart doesn't really count ;))
Can anyone please help?

Q about reheat from Ships Nostalgia PM:
Do you, in the a/c, hear that same incredible noise (as an external ground observer hears) or do you just 'feel' the 'engagement'?

Noise, not really, but you feel a massive shove in the back if you're low(ish), slow(ish) and unloaded (low alpha). If you're in a hard turn ie combat or a climb, the feeling is a little less. At high level, similarly reduced as you tend to be at much higher Mach. Hope that helps. TTH.

Unless, of course, you have intake ramps like a Tornado F3 and you get another little kick in the pants at around M1.2 :ok:

LJ, I think you may have been shortchanged there, I think thats the short stubby mud mover, not the GT variant.

I hear that reheat was used on the Jav if one wanted to go slower.....

C-130K had reheat.

Steak, fish 'n' chips, pies, curry, chicken kiev, hot dogs...

Not much noise, unless it broke - then we'd get quite cross and shouty.

Isn't it only fitted to American aircraft?

I heard the Italian Tornado was the only aircraft to have reheat in reverse thrust mode.

A lot of noise when the 'reheat' mod was introduced on the Chipmunk in the 80's ... mainly because the issue of aircrew thermal 'bunny suits' was withdrawn :}

The Caribou had reheat....when the Loady farted :sad:

Water Meth injection in the Dart may or may not count...
But accidental Water Meth instead of Demin Water into the Spey probably does - at least for the few seconds that the turbine survives :-)
