Some may be aware that last Thursday 6 Aug the RRAA (French) 75% scale Mosquito crashed at Fontenay le Comte aerodrome on return from the commemoration at Jonzac of the loss of a 151 Sqn Mosquito 71 years earlier. The RRAA team have attended many such commorations with flyovers, which the Freanch and RAFA Sud Ouest greatly appreciate.

Latest update is as follows:

On Monday afternoon, the team demounted the engines and propellers. Yesterday they were dismantling the tail and tail plane. One of the crew is still very ill in Nantes Hospital; the other is well.

They will continue to dismantle the Mosquito and place everything into the Hangar at Lucon where it was built originally. They will continue to inspect and repair every piece.

The bad news is that they will need perhaps €50000 to get the Mosquito into flying condition; please watch this space.

I called in at the airfield yesterday. The aeroplane looks very sick, but the team is confident it will fly again
