Regular readers will know that since my retirement, I walk with my two dogs every day.

On Friday morning I got up, to find as normal, two dogs lying in their beds next to our bed. I was going down stairs to make Mrs SOPS, as normal, a cup of tea.

Normally, my two 'FOs' come down stairs with me, while I make tea, they go outside for a morning 'tinkle'

On Friday, one dog would not come. Then I realised, she could not come with me, because she could not walk. A frantic call to our vet resulted in instructions...get her here. Right now!

Long story short, she had slipped a disk in her back, she spent 60 hours under sedation while they manuplitaed her back.

She has come home tonight. Has to spend the next week, in a play pen and dosed up on drugs so she does not want too run around, but we will have our lovely dog back. Thanks to all the vets.

Her brother, can I say, who has never been apart from his sister for 11 years, was distraught. If you don't think dogs don't have emotions think again. He was a mess for the three days she was gone. And when we bought here home, I have now seen disbelief in a dogs eyes, he looked at me, looked at her, looked back at me with utter disbelief, and them lay down next to his sister, and has not let her out of his sight since.

Sorry for the non aviation content.

Great animals... Much better than humans, for sure !

Glad to know both are fine.

All the best to you and family (dogs included).

Well I'm glad the dogs are fine... But on these forums?

We could all start spouting about our personal lives couldn't we?

Well that didn't take long did it White Knight? Only misery and complaining allowed in these columns huh?

Good on ya SOPS.

Not what I said... It is an AVIATION/MIDDLE EAST (either/or) forum! Wanna talk about dogs? Go to dogloversandbeachwalks.com :ugh::ugh:

Sorry White Knight...just thought I could add something different to the forum.

We could all do that and the forums would be a total mess... Just saying!

Great stuff...

Dogs are great, it's such a shame that so many people treat them as if they are flies whose wings are to be pulled off, they are fantastic companions - our two genuinely brighten our lives, and I can't imagine we will ever be dogless.

On a related note, for those who find it difficult to cope with them in the summer months I can highly recommend My Second Home Dubai, which has opened recently in DIP. We've started going there recently, huge indoor warehouse with astroturf, a pool, and a huge, huge fan to cool things down. have a Google, it's a brilliant idea...and the owners are a nice bunch who met walking their dogs at the lakes up Falcon City. Very jealous, I wish I'd have done it...

Silly me…

I thought it was going to say something like AAR has retired! Sigh…..

But glad to hear the "FO's" are both good!!!! :-)

Great news SOPs, I grew up with black Labs, dogs are by far the most loyal animals, superb gun dogs labs as well....sat having a cuppa when "Lucy" wandered in and swapped the pheasant she'd got all by herself with a cold beef sausage :D you can't teach that in a gun dog.
Good to hear the mutts are happy again, much better than some of the mutts on here.
Back in Blighty today, lovely pub lunch as well :ok:

Calling your pet dogs "my FO's" is the most Australian thing I've ever read

On a MB complaining about others wasting their time on the MB? Priceless.

A request please to close this thread. It has no relevance to aviation and serves no useful purpose for debate. This is personal irrelevant niff naff that many readers would have little or no interest in. If they do, perhaps they should send SOPS a friend request on Facebook or follow him in twitter.

SOPS, please take up golf or some other interesting hobby that you can pass through your retirement time with, however don't tell us about your round in detail each time you play 😀 if you have escaped emirates now move on & don't look back ! I would love to be in your position and if I was I wouldn't be looking back over my shoulder for one second !
