My daughter's friend and family are stranded in Erbil, Iraq/Kurdistan after they were told that their carrier, Iraqi Airlines, was banned from flying to Europe. I have checked the EU air safety website and there is nothing to confirm this.
However, I found this. Iraqi Airways banned by Swedish authorities (http://www.thelocal.se/20150805/iraqi-airline-banned-by-swedish-authorities)
The flight the family were due to take was routed via Malmo, so it has been cancelled and that would appear to be that. But I'm told the Iraqi Airways direct flight to MAN was cancelled yesterday.
So does a Swedish ban automatically mean an EU ban? How do these things work? And what happens to my daughter's friends?!
Thanks in advance for any input.
