The shortage of experienced licenced engineers has been hurting for a while.
What affects has it had on the industry?
Planes ares still flying.

Is there the market for another UK-based Aviation Academy training budding engineers to B1/B2 etc?

the devil is in the detail , 'experienced' is the key word.......plenty of licenced engineers or people with licences...... lots of people with experience leaving the industry , particularly the ex-servicemen. don't see how another school will make a difference.

As BVCU mentioned....more training establishments are not necessarily the answer. You can train more folks but the issue is the big gaps in experience the industry faces with many leaving (or soon to leave)

The shortage of experienced licensed engineers has been widely predicted for years. There are a huge number of engineers aged 50+ in the industry. Many of these are ex RAF or former aircraft manufacturing facilities (Woodford, Hatfield etc) Both these sources of recruitment virtually dried-up some time ago but airlines have done little in the meantime to plug the gap and its a serious issue going forward.

Its also concerning to see the quality of training in general reducing with shorter apprenticeships and some youngsters fixated on earning big money in the shortest possible time! So, in many cases the aim is simply to go from zero to hero ASAP rather than accepting that experience in this industry is what counts (and always will!)

Thanks - this is what I am discovering.
There are plenty of places to do the theory but I am investigating linking-up with a local 'regional' to provide the complete package, tied-in with gov apprenticeship scheme to encourage airline to come on board and take it supply issue seriously.

Is this not something companies like Monarch Engineering already do?
Chalk n talk, play with bits then exam on Friday?
