Samoa Opportunities

Need some advice re Samoa. The wife may have an opportunity to take up a Senior role in Samoa and we are considering a lifestyle change for 3-5 years. I will not need to work, but would like to keep my hand in if the move comes off. Anyone know of any opportunities in Samoa for a twenty year veteran, with considerable turboprop, multi crew, IFR and air ambulance experience?

Talk to Chris Langton at Samoa Air (I think it is called)

Chris is a nice guy, flew with him about 20 years ago.

He owns/operates the operation so if he can't give you any work he might be able to give you some advice..

There is no GA to speak of, the Polynesian jet operation has gone and they operate an otter? Not sure what is over in Pago these days, have not landed there since about 2009/10, but seem to recall there was a D228 but it is a long time in Island aviation!

G'day mate ,

I was there a while ago and Polynesian Airlines now have 3 Twin otters mostly -400 series i believe .
Also Samoa air has a C337 for survey work and a 206 and company might be buying a turbo prop in the near future .

when you get there , just go to the hangar and say g'day unless of couse you could find their numbers by contacting the airport locals .

Very friendly and laid back place and you would surely enjoy the flying over the islands.

Not sure of the rules now, but in the past the issue of a work permit for a spouse accompanying was a no go.
