View Full Version : A Category B helicopter can be landing on elevated or rooftop helipad ?

Hi

As one of helicoter test pilot i am wondering about Cat B helicopter able to landing on elevated or rooftorp helipad which is not establish TDF, LDP and balked landing proceures under sigle engine failure condition even tough isolated dual engine installed.

* maximum takeoff weight : about 19000lbs
* passenger : 2 pilots,2 crews, 9 pssengers.
* engine : dual with isolated.
* primary mission : Medical evacuation and transport.

Kim, I would suggest you put the question to the `Rotorheads` forum,where there are many experts who will be able to offer advice/requirements from various National Authorities about rooftop helipads/EMS operations.

As a helicopter test pilot, you should be able to answer your own question, as you should be able to read and interpret the manuals..


Your questions refers to the ABILITY to land there.....there is a clear answer to that:
It depends.
Helicopter landing weight, Field elevation, Pressure Altitude, Wind, Dimensions, Power Available....


The categories describe exactly that-the CATEGORY a helicopter is operating in.
It describes the margins, the equipment and other things NECESSARY to operate in that CATEGORY...
