Repost (edited) from Pax & SLF

I frequently stay with a friend near Epsom and accept that some helicopter traffic overhead in unavoidable due to their location close the racecourse.

But I was just dozing off the other night when a really loud one woke me up - at 23:05 !!

Are there no time limits for helicopter flights over residential areas ?

P.S. It was suggested in reply to my original post that it would have been Police; that may be true, but I've heard a few of those over the years and they've tended to fade in an out as they flew around. This one went over in a straight line just like all the other private helis do during the day...

They gotta fly a straight line from base to where they are patrolling, and if they get a call their going to fly a straight line to get there
