ME Rating before getting 320 endorsed?

Title says it all really. Do I need a ME rating on my DGCA license before I can get 320 rated?

Total waste of time. No need to learn how to fly before doing a type rating. Make sure the type rating is for left hand seat. Flying as FO is waste of time as well.

Hmmm, wow, you want to go from SEP straight to a bus? I don't think it's safe, don't run when u can't walk.

The multi engine is vital to be a proficient pilot for operations on aircraft with more than 1 engine.

Pls check the legalities with the DGCA, PPRUNE is the worst place to ask this kind of thing.

How do you learn about VMCA and the good old dead leg dead engine.. tread on the ball and all the good stuff...

They wont be teaching you this in the sim, best you get a multi engine rating now. most sim centres ( read reputable ...) wont take you with only a single engine rating for a multy engine jet type rating.. Although I have heard Air India does it this way.. but we wont go there.

EDIT that, I see you have a FAA multi so you know how to fly a twin... then according to the great gods of Indian aviation suprisingly you legally don't need a multi engine rating you will find. the sim center wont care as you have a faa mutli to your name. Ask them at the sim center to put the A320 rating on your FAA license also if they can, you will thank me in your future.

If you look at the DGCA CAR that specifically deals with type rating on the Airbus A320 then you can see very clearly what they ask for

The prerequisite is 25 hours on multi engine aircraft (10 hours can be completed in an approved simulator).

As you can see all that the DGCA asks for is 25 hours of multi engine experience ( max 10 on sim )
It does not specifically require the multi engine IR to be endorsed on the DGCA license

That being said anyone who has dealt with the DGCA will know that it is difficult to trust them unless one has a reply in writing

Its for this reason that I had filed an RTI with the DGCA regarding this particular question

To the rest of you, I have 45 hours on a ME but due to various complications (the DGCA) I havent been able to convert it into a ME rating on my Indian license.

So the question begs to be answered....
What do you plan on doing with that A320 type rating? Do you have a job lined up or are you just throwing 3 sheets into the wind hoping that it eventually works out.

I wouldn't have gone out with 45 Multi and into a type rating, from piston to jet is a HUGE transition. Most of the guys who wash out from airline training have little to no exprience in turbine multi-engine airplanes.
