The SH world must be taking a break.......

And it's been well earned.

It still amazes me the proportion of commissioned officers to Airmen on these lists, are "we" truly saying that no one below the rank of Sgt contributed above and beyond on our current Operations? Or is it more likely that senior Commanders like to write up honours on their immediate commisioned subordinates to bask in the reflected glory I.e. didn't I teach/mentor him/her well? Or am I getting old and cynical?

Did I miss something or is there not a single SH award in there? Anyone got the complete tri-service list? JHC haven't broken away completely yet have they?....

Warrant Officer Alan Grant Whitton,RAF Marham
There was a Grant Whitton around in the mid sixties/early seventies; I wonder if they're related.

Congratulations anyway; esp if the one I knew is dad :ok:

I fully understand these are Honours earned by Service personnel for outstanding service and congratulate the recipients, but the way the RAF says thank you, I also found a little strange at times. They insisted I was going to be awarded a "Good Show" for firing a red from the RWC at an F4 at Leuchars who had forgotten his dangly bits, yes it was shortly after an F4 had gone the whole nine yards and landed wheels up, but I was only doing what I was trained to do and what was expected of me. Caused a hell of stink when I said I wanted nothing to do with said award, even the B-word got involved! I didn't go to any award ceremony, and found out ages later it was awarded in my absence, the framed certificate was hidden in SATCO's office, i guess they knew it would be pointless trying to give it to me, it may still be there!! :D

This do? - Wander00

It will indeed, thank you, not least since it would appear from your link and mine that Captain Julie Thain-Smith QARNNS (OF-5) has been awarded a QCVS by both the Royal Navy and the Army!:ok::ok:

How odd - maybe she was recommended up the Joint, but largely Army, Chain of Command, but listed with her own Service as well, Anyone have a better, or even more accurate, explanation?

W00:-
it would appear... that Captain Julie Thain-Smith QARNNS (OF-5) has been awarded a QCVS by both the Royal Navy and the Army!:ok::ok:

Maybe they took their cue from her:-
encouraging the (Afghan) police and army to pool their resources and work together.
Wouldn't it be nice if the same thing happened in the rarefied heights of the UK CoC?
