Well things are hotting up here, latest rumour is the new Wicked Witch of the West cannot live with Chief of the Seattle manufactured fleet. If so, that really is drawing a line in the sand.

I'm from a different fleet, but I understand that it would be a shame to lose him.

With regards to leadership and initiative amongst our pilot leaders: "Exterminate, exterminate!"

It's not that surprising look at the remainder of the quality up there now slowly going from bad to worse eventually there will be one 'fleet' office and a real nazi in charge

I hope that's not true!
He's a top guy, good leader, and as one of only a handful I respect up there.

That's right AT, keep up the good work. A great way to get us onside is to shove the one senior manager that we respect out of the way. That will certainly encourage us to cooperate. Keep reading the Swire playbook. FYI, one day it won't work anymore, and my money is on it being soon.

Alas, he is not one of the brainwashed Swire puppet gofer the company wants in these positions in order to micromanage this whole management disaster case study.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

I hope it isn't true that he has been let go.

If it's really the case then I dearly hope there will be a united action to support him.

Keep beating a dog with a stick yet expect it to be loyal, come back to you when you call it and sit when you demand it? Well, this dog BITES, it won't put it's tail between its legs. Just hope it has enough teeth. Or run away.

"United action to support him"!!!!
Just like he has supported you? Stop being so bloody naive. He took the dollars and deserves no loyalty from us. Not one of those self serving cowards have ever simply resigned in protest at the appalling anti - aircrew work ethic in the boardroom. Good riddance to the lot of them. Keep up the CC, they're turning inwards on each other which is exactly what we want.

The whole operation feels dysfunctional. They've changed the Business Cards to match the new corporate logo; yet the aircraft are still flying around in a paint scheme from circa 1995! There is no brand consistency or attention to detail. That is obviously the least of our concerns but it reflects badly on the company. You get the impression the place is being run into the ground either on purpose or through incompetence.

4th Jul 2015, 09:26
I don't see u matching down the street in CX CITY in protest either. He has done a lot of lobbying in support for us and our saftey esp.. in the last few wks. Thus exactly the reason he is in some hot water. I think it appropriate we support him and he continue to support us.

As for the other GM I would agree.

Captain Dart
4th Jul 2015, 10:02
No sympathy. He put his hand up for management shortly after the 'unpleasantness' of the last decade. These people eat their own young.

And he will retire as a very wealthy man.

4th Jul 2015, 11:01
Bull****. He is one of us. He has supported us no end.
I propose on the 15th that we all call in sick.
I am f.....g sick of this management riding rough shod over us.
Call their bluff and all go "unfit."
Stop the flights and lets see.
Dart have you got the balls?
I do.

Route person "One of us!!!" Are you friggin crazy???
He has taken the Queens shilling and is out to screw, cheat, lie, betray and disrespect you, me and every other present and future aircrew unfortunate enough to be stuck with this circus.
The whole outfit is about to implode so don't waste your sympathy on the Camp guards who were 'only following orders".

Who will replace? If of course the rumour is true.

CYRILJGROOVE
4th Jul 2015, 13:25
Chief Pilots are not on the coin of senior managers. He has resisted the order from above to fire and discipline crew and this is why the rumor is flying around he is on the outer.

He is as good as you will get up there, and let's hope some sycophant who would follow orders to rape and pillage the aircrew to put them in their place according to the outdated playbook they are desperately clinging to does not implant themselves into dead mans shoes.

Sqwak7700
4th Jul 2015, 13:28
The next muppet in line will replace him. It is not a position of power, just a glorified line pilot that spends a little more time in Cathay city than the regular line guy.

Besides, does it really matter? So the fleet updates will be signed by a different individual, not much else will change. But it does show how effective CC has been.

Keep up the good work boys and girls.

How do some of you consider him as 'one of us'?

Either you are junior in the airline and haven't got your facts in order or you are naive.

Re-read aislinn's and Dan Buster's posts - they nailed it.

He is a wolf in sheep`s clothing. Think back to Mariners Club AOA meeting 1999.

Only at CX would a guy be revered for doing his job.

Let me get this straight, 49 line pilots, and several others since then, have been unfairly dismissed, and not a single threat of a walk out or sick out. One sleazy low life manager supposedly gets the boot and some f4ckwits here calling for a sick out...F4ck me i have now seen it all :ugh::ugh::ugh::ugh:

I have known the gentleman concerned here for something like 27 years and I have enjoyed his friendship and integrity during this time. I log into PPrune from time to time, to see what the latest gossip is, not just here in HKG, but mainly in the other airlines around the world. I have very little respect for those here and elsewhere, who slate and denigrate a person anonymously and are not brave enough to put their own names to a post. I can assure you, that GL would be very happy to discuss anything you are concerned about, face to face over coffee, in order to give you the real facts and truth, other than what some you believe has happened. The same applies for the other folks in management and office positions in Flight Operations. Please go talk to them directly, instead of making anonymous posts here.

I know some of you decry those who have gone into management, however the system wouldn't function without them there, representing us and I would much prefer to have people in there, like GL, instead of some others not as suitable. Over the years I have been considerably helped by GL and others there, whenever I have had a tricky time about something, for various reasons and I have the utmost respect for them and GL in particular. They are very understaffed in the office, considering the number of crew they have in the respective Boeing fleets and when you understand the current situation more, you will appreciate that they don't have an easy task. I know PPRune is a rumour network, but some of you need to be more sure of your facts, before you make some of the statements here, on what you think is going on in Flight Operations and the Company. If you are not brave enough to say something to a person's face, then keep it to yourself.

Best Regards,

Peter Hay

It's far easier posting here under your name defending some of those cretins in management, knowing there will be no repercussions, rather than posting here under your name and criticizing the same people who have known to be spiteful, vindictive, and have the power to fire you? You're smart enouh to know that, so please don't pretend as if you're some sort of an honourable, brave individual. The day I submit my resignation is the day I'll have no trouble signing my real name to my posts. Again, it's not being brave it's being smart.

Still amazes me though at how conveniently you choose to ignore the events of the past two decades. It's no wonder the majority see you as a company orientated pilot. When the day comes where we have escalated industrial action, will you be brave enough to stand shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues? That will be the defining moment, this is not it im afraid.

Flap10

Well some have posted with their own name.....on the company approved prune....

If you were an AOA member you would know that as the same post was made on the AOA forum.

I've chosen to ignore his posts on the AoA forum for good reason. Don't make assumptions.

Spot on Peter and thank you for saying what you did.

I also think highly of the man and hope this is simply a rumor.

There is always going to be limits on what someone can do and it is my belief he has done whatever he could whenever he could and for that I am grateful.

As far as the stone throwers I'd just ask that you (honestly) put yourself in the same position and ask yourself if you could do any better. Methinks few--if any--could. Falling on your sword over everything and going out in a blaze of glory in the first week doesn't count. We all know how things work here. While I see many far worse that could be in the job I see none better. Would this be true and an indication of things to come, for those willing and able it would be an excellent indicator it's time to look for employment elsewhere.

Peter Hay has done a spectacular job of discrediting his reputation over the years.

I happen to agree with Peter on this point, GL is a top bloke and I'd be very surprised if we ever have a better cp.

Really drove home the just reporting culture and always felt he was a good balance between company and the pilots.
You have to realize that it's a tough balancing act, and he's doing it well.

It's in the company's best interest to have him there, and ours as well. A rare occurrence indeed...

As far as Peter's reputation, it just fine, and I am sure better than yours.
