A380 AKL-LAX or SFO?

Just wondering how long before we see either a QF or EK A380 on the AKL-LAX route? One imagines that it would work given the SYD-LAX route.
Any thoughts?

EK AKL-LAX or SFO - never, due to the USA side not authorising open skies. Aussie and NZ governments do not care who or what flies the Tasman. The USA is not so generous with bi-lateral air service agreements.
QF AKL-LAX maybe if they get B787-9's

Interesting, AA maybe one day and EK probably never...
Fondly recall the days that PA then UA and CO were plying the route (via HNL) and if memory serves AA were here previously in a DC 10 but I stand ready to be corrected.
NZ and QF were also on the route in those days of course.
