If true, good news. Even his peers were sick of him. Now if only one other gnome that affects our lives would up and leave.........:D

He resigned before and pulled in his resignation the day after, apparently. Will only believe it when he's out the door.

Things won't change that much anyway:

Unfortunately our medical department is completely powerless against the abuse of cabin crew, engineers and pilots. They all know there is a major fatigue issue but can't do anything about it.

We had a few good docs in the past who tried, but they all left because they were fighting a hopeless cause.

If they don't sing the management song along, they will be asked to leave the choir or quit with some self respect left in them.

Can't blame them for wanting to keep their job, do blame the ones on a witch hunt.

Very true VLS.

The doctors are powerless because they don't have data to back up what they know about our rosters.

Ive been told directly by my AME to call fatigued if I'm too tired to fly safely. Most guys just call in sick.

Look at it from the companies perspective. Doctors say there is a fatigue problem, but the company sees that few pilots call in fatigued. Now if a every pilot that was too tired to fly calls in and drops the "F" bomb instead of just calling sick, things might change. Key word, "might".

WE, as a pilot GROUP, need to grow a pair and protect ourselves.

It's surprising that he wasn't promoted to SVP in management, from my dealings with him he has just the right sort of vindictive, contemptible character for it. Well, back to the UK with him, he is "British" after all.......???

The doctors aren't powerless, they're spineless. They break their oath with some of the practices here. By staying regardless, they tacitly approve of the system.

Where is he going....we should warn them. ( we could ring where ever he is going, and tell them ie give them a verbal warning, { I crack myself up sometimes :})

Be very careful with that, could apply to a lot of other people too!

I know and I thought about a statement to that effect but deleted it. Much better to stay focussed on the gnome and his pleasing announcement - if it's true.

Take the G off the gnome and you have a surname

TCAS will always be known by that. Think a few floors higher.
