Hi everyone,

What are the visual differences between the 787 aircraft and how do I tell when looking at one which variant it is?

The 9 is 20 feet longer and that's about the only obvious visual difference. Overall it looks slightly more slender, the 8 is kind of stubby looking in comparison.
If you're close enough to see how many Windows there are then count back from doors 3 (at the wing trailing edge), on the 8 there are 9 windows, a slight gap, then 3 more. On the 9 version there are 14 then 3.
