Now sorry for the geeky-ness of this observation

But on FR24 there is an unidentified plane with the flight number CGOCX so in my sherlocking mode I typed it into google as C-GOCX and to my surprise it returned two planes with the same registration. One is a Eurolot Dash 8 (here (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:C-GOCX%28SP-EQE%29_1_Dash_8Q-402_euroLOT_MAN_13AUG12_%287774716944%29.jpg)) with many a photo of it at Farnborough and the other is a Falcon 2000 (here (http://www.planespotters.net/Aviation_Photos/photo.show?id=601363))

Now as the flight left Luton and is heading out over the Atlantic it suggests that it is a Falcon 2000.

So do we have two planes with the same reg? I would have thought that was not possible. I stand to be corrected on all of this.

The Dash 8 old registration was C-GOCX(pictures are 2012), now is SP-EQE.

So probably C-GOCX became available when the Dash was re-registered and was later issued to the Falcon 2000.

OK. Sounds plausible.

Thanks for the info on the Dash 8.

So do we have two planes with the same reg? I would have thought that was not possible. I stand to be corrected on all of this.

Canada used to register all its aircraft CF- followed by 3 letters, which meant that there was a limited range of combinations available compared to, say, the UK with G- followed by 4 letters.

So the Canadians got into the habit, like the USA and many other countries, of re-using registration marks as and when required, though obviously there can't be two different aircraft with the same marks on the register at the same time.

The UK, with a very few exceptions, doesn't re-use cancelled registration marks as there is no need to.

Looks to be owned by NovaJet out of Pearson. Not sure what the coin is on the tail.
