Can anyone identify the dark grey DC10 parked at Larnaca yesterday 24 May.

Seemed to have a German inscription on the fuselage but it was light grey writing on dark grey paint.

S:hmm:

It sounds very much like one of the RNAF DC10 tanker aircraft, from a distance Dutch looks a bit like German :8

Thanks for that - in almost record time.

That's a likely solution as it has a small red/white/blue roundel just under the horizontal stabiliser - more of a pie chart than a roundel.

I didn't realise that anyone in Europe operated KC10's, apart from the USAF.

S:ok:

As far as I'm aware they are the only ones operating the (KC) and not DC10 as you rightly point out. The roundel is as you say a pie chart of red white and blue. I think that every other AF in Europe use A330 or A300 or B767 as tanker/logistic aircraft. I seem to remember that they were ex-KLM or Martinair ships and with the mass of engineering knowledge and spares available the Dutch government bought them for airforce usage tanking and troop moving, especially UN Dutch deployments overseas.

As additional info, they are designated KDC-10s and are converted Martinair DC-10s.

Not including the one that recently met it's fate at NQY.

Yes, but just to avoid any confusion that wasn't either of the ex Martinair aircraft. It was an ex United Airlines Dc-10.
