Farcical is how I can describe this , AT you're most definitely a sheepess in wolfs clothing and also you're hilarious!
You're now officially no different to the last DFO just more of the same old over and over again .

Too all new joiners who haven't got a clue what RP07 is then its time to wise up pronto and if we lose these we're f##ked . guaranteed . And too all fellow pilots if we let them get this by us we're all screwed in more ways than you will ever realise , they will just keep coming and coming . They have one clear mission, its the nineties all over again . If you don't know what I'm talking about its time to find out . There is clear and imminent danger lurking in the neighbourhood.

Rod and the GC your latest missive is not enough , this is all out battle now , a blanket ban on anyone who volunteers to anything outside there contract is more appropriate isn't it?? !
Do gooding fdaper's crwmer's interviewer's photo opper's etc etc also a ban on attending company drinks sessions ! 47 was it ? Naive essos !

Upgrades are part of your contract no need to refuse what is already granted.

Check and training is volunteering big difference

yep including FO & CN upgrades..........yeah thought so......gutless

Jizzmonkey, its is quite obvious that you are the baby feline here mate. The excuse making G-Day working "ooohh I had to get back cos my aunt's third cousin twice removed kicked the bucket".

TC/STC/BTC, Life-well-, I Can't Fly, White-Wiggle self promoting are all volunteer programs that help the company out.

Anyone that even tries to equate a JFO/FO/CN promotion to a Training position has no place in my union.

I bet you reckon that 777 or A350XWB lanyard looks good on you.

Your - you're..... They're different
Were - we're...... They're different
Too - to..... They're different
Their - there - they're..... They're different.

Are people like this expecting to be taken seriously by managers who have graduated from university? My kids in primary school do MUCH better.

Aside from my S###E grammar thanks grammar police
I get the big picture here
And everyone should be very worried about what is going on

Worry does little good in that it punishes only the one worrying.

It probably would be a good time though to be making contingency plans on all levels. Sending out a few resumes and applications might not hurt either--provided one is ready to say yes.

AT. I will respectfully inform you that if you mess with my lifestyle in ANY way that results in an even MORE unacceptable roster, I will ensure that my best interests are put first, by myself. I will also respectfully inform you that hundreds (if not thousands) of my p*ssed off colleagues will immediately follow suit. The effects of CC will be magnified 10-fold (and remember what CC stands for....we are "complying with our contracts"...ie: doing our jobs). The company had better open the purse strings in the biggest way imaginable to fix the rot that you and your colleagues have imposed over the past 20+ years. The Titanic is bearing down fast on the iceberg, and many of us are happy to see her go down with all hands at this point. Mess with our RP's at your, and the company's peril. I can't emhasise this enough. As Clint Eastwood once said, "go ahead, make my day".

And btw AT. Because of the double-speak in your latest letter I changed my pay vote from 'yes' to 'no'. It is obvious (and I mean OBVIOUS) that the management strategy all along was to grant us a 'pay raise', and then nullify that with the changed work rules. No point getting 4 % when you make me effectively work 5 % harder for it. Been there, done that...won't get fooled again. Stop the attacks. Now.

So true, amazing to think so many employees not only flight crew, actually enjoy watching CX fail and get enjoyment out of it.

It'll take one hell of an effort to turn this ship around, however I don't think they have any intention of doing so. It'll end up in the hands of China and be just another mainland airline that once was a respected carrier.

The Swire Group regard CX as just another asset, just like a Coke Bottling plant. The end game will be to sell this asset for the biggest personal gain for SG, nobody else. The dictat from 'on high' (ie London) is to employ mainly ethnic Chinese on an ever reducing package with the priority being no Expat benefits and no work rules except those insisted upon by CAD (sic). The big A Scale earners will have retired soon (say 10 years) and there will be hundreds of ethnic FO's coming up for Command.
2025 CX will be called China Southern so don't waste your helpful attitudes here. Wake up and take them elsewhere ( or learn Mandarin). AT and the rest of this team will be long gone so don't imagine they care a stuff about what you think either. Like the Nazis they're just obeying orders............:}

Insightful posts.

The strategery they seem to be following seems to be a "cash out and dump" one. If that isn't the intention, it sure is the vector. Hate to see it happen expecially with what could and should be a growing premium airline--with alot to gain for everyone. As much as I sometimes hate to face facts it does make sense for the goings on.

If they're actually trying to build something good reversing course and actually investing in people (without trying to chisel and trick) would be a capital idea.

I'll bet they're wishing right about now that the little section about graciously extending an unworkable and farcical A day system (which is siginficantly worse than what we used to have--as well as worse than any other major carrier long call reserve system) and spinning off 3-man from the RPs we used to have wasn't in there. What was a done deal in the ratification of the TA just went into not so sure land (and I personally view this as unfortunate). And if anything would be likely to generate a strike at some point, it would likely come from RPs (for a whole bunch of reasons, not the least of which being safety of flight).

As far as chiseling RPs in light of a meager pay adjustment it ain't gonna happen. SOMEHOW productivity will continue to decline. Methinks without an efficient, honest, and forthright proposal (with a genuine effort to work as a cohesive and happy team) bean counters will be baffled when tightening the screws only results in more losses in an ever decreasing spiral.

You have to foster an envrionment where the individual WANTS to go above and beyond to make the team succeed. Think about the best leaders you've ever worked with or for. You WANT to do your best, and don't want to disappoint them or the group--and this is a very very powerful force. They might be demanding, intolerant of slackery, hard drivers, etc, but they instill a feeling of value of your effort, recognize it, and are honest and forthright with you. There's no question of who the boss is, but this doesn't come from someone stomping their feet and trying to assert control that isn't really there--it comes from competence, confidence, and trust. When things don't go right you don't react out of fear but out of a feeling that 'you're better than that.' One would go to hell and back with such a person because one trusts them. Taking things away and 'negotiating' to bring them back (at a net overall loss for the individual) fosters EXACTLY the opposite and builds mistrust. The individual, rather than being motivated to work harder and go above and beyond for the group, directs this effort toward toward using all tools at HIS disposal to make HIS life as good as it can be in spite of the goings on. These goals diverge from what would make the group successful. Sick rates, PRAs, apathy, doing the minimum and only the miniumu, bad attitudes, strikes and demonstrations, looking so much forward to time off vice doing a job you used to love, not WANTING to go to work, etc. are all pretty strong indicators of this.

And it doesn't have to happen. The cost of moving folks forward is so minimal--especially compared with the gains that can be reaped. It really is the definition of pennywise and pound foolish.

The sword of stinginess cuts in many directions. PM Uno (the Japanese guy with the funny glasses) didn't meet his demise because he was harbouring a mistress. He did so by being a cheap bastage and stiffing her (in a bad way) over a pittance--and this is what folks found outrageous. A little to keep the girl happy and grateful (and honour his obligations) could have gone a long way toward furthering both of their careers.

This is where we are. Where we go is largely a matter of leadership.

Shep69, your post brought a tear to the eye with long suppressed memories of what life was like at some other companies I have work at….not at CX though.

I wonder if the bean counters will ever quantify the blow back management is generating. I doubt it and even if they did they would never have the integrity to admit to it.

Fair enough, goathead. If you believe this is and will be the case during RP negotiations (and that rosters will become unmanageable and unsafe) I'd suggest you bring forward a proposal (and we make preparations for) a strike vote over RPs.

You must have me mistaken for a pilot member of The FAU, now they have some stones.

We get f###ed over and over and over and what happens we have pilots putting there hands up to volunteer for things.
I'm a member of the AOA and unfortunately the majority don't , strike no chance.Any motion of a strike will have to come from within the GC and senior leadership once all legal options have been explored , and I implore our AOA to begin too make preparations for such a step.
