A new base to be announced in the next 4 weeks. Odds look 60 / 40 towards Prestwick.

It has to be Prestwick....
If reports of PIK's 50p per pax handling charges are
an indication of what further bargains FR expect from this
discount airport. :eek:

True, Joe - and they don't even need a near-monopoly to achieve great results, unlike certain airports in Bonnie Scotland! ;)
Sunday Times of a couple of weeks ago said that a team from Scottish Enterprise went over to Dublin to discuss things. However FR should ask Polar Air Cargo about how much of the promised funds that they have received to date from SE.

Maybe it's not as clear-cut after all. I hope I'm proved wrong though...........
From yesterday's "The Herald" P.19 Business :
RYANAIR, the low-cost airline, will decide in the next four weeks whether to invest up to £15m in a new maintenance base at Prestwick airport, bringing 200 new jobs to the area.
Michael O'Leary, chief executive, said Prestwick airport was
in competition with Bournemouth airport for the work. "It will be decided in the next month" he said. The sticking-point, he said, was the cash being offered by Scottish Development International (SDI), the inward investment arm of Scottish Enterprise.
He said that although he was keen for jobs to come to Scotland, the current offer from SDI was not enough. "What they have offered us I can count on one hand", he said.
Looks like Prestwick is the favourite.

Secretary of State for Scotland and Scottish Industry Minister to make an announcement today.:) :)
On the down side a suggestion on a newsgroup that one of the freight airlines will announce stopping services at the end of this month. :(
